7-day One-on-one hunts: add $1,000.

Starting in 2011, all non-resident licenses have to be received through the drawing system. Although this system has it's drawbacks, in some ways there are benefits. More licenses have been added, and the price of the licenses has increased, making out-of-state licenses much easier to draw.

There has been an under sale of licenses since this system was put in place, until 2017.  Currently, if there are unsold licenses, they go back for sale, giving a hunter the opportunity to buy a license after the draw.

Elk/Mule Deer Combo Rifle Hunts

Our rifle hunts run Sunday to Saturday. During the five week hunting season, each of the hunts offers its own challenges and is unique. In the early season, the Elk are usually in small groups and spend time in the timber. Large Mule Deer bucks can be found along the higher ridges. Mid-season the weather gets colder and the elk are forced into the meadows. Mule Deer begin to enter the rut. Late season, the Elk begin to form into larger herds some as large as 40 to 50 head of Elk. Mule Deer are now fully in rut and on the move.

Elk/Mule Deer Combo Archery Hunts

Archery hunts take place in the same area as our rifle hunts but earlier in the year. At this time of year the Elk are usually in small groups in the higher basins. The bigger bulls will become aggressive, trying to establish their dominance. While the smaller bulls are roaming the area to find an unattended cow. it is not uncommon to hear several bulls in one basin bugling and challenging each other. To be a hunter in the midst of it is a magical experience.

Discounts

The tradition of hunting will be carried on by our younger hunters. The experience youth hunters have in a wilderness camp can be priceless. Therefore, to encourage young hunters, we offer a youth deer/elk combination rifle or bow hunt discount of $500. Youth hunters from 12 to 18 years old must have a hunters' safety course completion certificate from their home state.   The State also gives youth hunters a half priced license.
